How we hold what you tell me

Source is built to remember you, and to keep as little as possible while doing it. This page explains, in plain language, what we store and how it is used. Source is operated by Source LLC (in formation). Questions: privacy@source-within.com.

Source is a free, voluntary pilot. By agreeing on the form, you explicitly consent to us recording and processing your calls — which may include personal or sensitive things you choose to share — and keeping a short memory of them to run the service. You can withdraw that consent and have your data deleted at any time, by asking Source on a call or by emailing privacy@source-within.com.

What we keep

• Your phone number, which is how we know you. We do not need your name; Source may ask what to call you, and you can answer however you like.
• How you asked Source to address you (he, she or they).
• A record that you agreed to these terms, and when.
• The audio and a written transcript of your calls with Source.
• A memory file — a set of notes drawn from your conversations — so Source can remember what matters to you and pick up where you left off.
• Basic technical information needed to run and secure the service.

How it is used

Your memory file and transcripts are used to run the service and to make your calls feel personal and informed over time. The system reads your memory automatically so Source can respond in a way that reflects what you have shared. No one on our team reads your conversations. The only exceptions are when you ask us to (for example, to look into a call or a deletion request), when Source's safety response suggests you or someone else may be in danger, or when the law requires it.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell your personal information or your conversations, and we do not share them for advertising. To run the service we use trusted third-party providers (for the AI, telephone connection, voice, transcription, and secure storage). They process your information only on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

We keep what you share (your conversations, Source's memory of you, the themes of your calls, the texts Source drew on, what you committed to, and your minutes) for as long as you're with us.

You can have all of it deleted at any time. Ask Source on a call: it will tell you what that means, ask you once more, and delete everything after you hang up, usually within a few minutes. That includes the recordings and transcripts held by the platform that runs our calls and the lines spoken by Source's voice provider. If anything about a request is unclear, a person reviews the call before anything is deleted. You can also email us.

A few things stay after a deletion:

• A record that you asked and when, kept for three years so we can show your request was honoured. It holds your number in coded form and nothing you said.
• Technical information about your calls, such as how long each one lasted, and short excerpts of some calls that we have labelled to improve how Source understands people. These are kept without your number, except for a call covered by a safety record below.
• If something you said to Source ever triggered its safety response, a record of that moment: your number, when it happened, and the words that triggered it, together with that call's technical information. It is kept in case it is needed for legal reasons. The call itself is deleted.

Some records sit outside what we can delete. The phone company and the provider that sends our text messages keep their own records of calls and texts to your number, as phone services do. The providers we use for the AI and the voice keep short-term copies and backups for up to about 30 days (longer only if their systems flag misuse). Our own backups and service logs, which show only part of your number, expire on their normal schedule. If a person reviews your request, our internal task for it keeps only part of your number, which call it concerns, and a one-line summary of the review.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live — including the UK and the United States — you have rights over your information, such as asking what we hold, correcting it, deleting it, or getting a copy. To use any of these, email privacy@source-within.com. To have Source forget you entirely, you can also just ask on a call. Because your number is your identity, we may confirm requests through that number. You can stop text messages any time by replying STOP.

Keeping it safe

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to limit what we hold and who can reach it.

Age

Source is only for adults aged 18 and over.

Changes

If we make a meaningful change to how we handle your information, we will update this page and, where appropriate, let you know.
